The Hungry Collective will be leading an evening of worship and ministry at the Langley Vineyard. Leaders will include Andy Park, Gary Best and Daphne Suzanne.
The format will be simple: worship, a short message, and prayer ministry time. We will welcome the Holy Spirit to lead us, pour out his gifts and do whatever he wants to do.
Here are the beliefs and values driving our priorities and gatherings:
The Hungry Manifesto
We believe we are in a time of special invitation from God. If we step towards him and seek him diligently, he will respond.
We believe God is calling us to remove obstacles to his work among us.. We need to “unstop the wells” as in the time of the patriarch Isaac. This involves repentance and a change of direction. Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died. Jesus said, “Repent, for the kingdom of God is near.”
We believe it’s time to actively return to our closely held value of anticipating and actively welcoming God’s Spirit. With help from the Holy Spirit and through consultation with our leadership team and others, we will plan events in which there is ample time to worship, listen, pray, and exercised spiritual gifts as we respond to the Holy Spirit.
We will place Christ at the center of our gatherings. One way we will do this is by celebrating the Eucharist in most or all of our gatherings.
We have an emphasis on intercession. Church history shows that times of renewal leading to great all-around fruitfulness begins with prayer.
We highly value “doing what the Father is doing.” This means praying as we plan, and changing directions as needed, before and during meetings.
We highly value team leadership, men and women in leadership together, and working and fellowshipping with people from various church affiliations.
We highly value raising up the younger generations. We will involve younger people on our worship and ministry teams.
We highly value helping the poor. We will make an effort to include and prefer the poor.
We highly value meaningful relationships with all kinds of Christians, and long for the mending of broken relationships from past experiences in church and life.
Our prayer and intention is that if we follow the long arc of these values and practices, it will result in the salvation of people who currently have no idea who Jesus is as well as the renewal and restoration of Christians who are currently not connected to a faith community.
